Charles Street Partners (CSP) was formed by Barclay Knapp and Albert Schneider in 2003.
CSP specializes in the "build up" of companies in promising areas of telecommunications
such as wireless broadband Internet access, VOIP, and mobile telephone services.
CSP assembles entrepreneurs and management teams, provides seed funding and arranges follow-on financing, and actively participates in the strategy and day-to-day operations of its companies from inception onward. The firm also offers marketing, management consulting, corporate finance, and M&A advisory services. CSP's team includes several senior executives who have all been at the forefront of breakthrough telecommunications services in a variety of disciplines. The team's industry expertise includes cellular mobile telephony, mobile data, landline telephony, cable television, and broadband Internet access, and their functional expertise includes design, engineering, implementation, information and IT services, sales and marketing, operations, customer service and finance. All CSP team members have held titles at the Senior Vice President level or above. Among their technical accomplishments include several innovations in cellular design and technology, pioneering work in cable television, telephone, and broadband Internet networks, and the first-ever integrated billing systems in the cellular mobile and cable/telephony, and broadband Internet industries. In marketing and operations, the team has collectively developed pace-setting marketing strategies in cellular mobile, cable TV/telephony, and broadband Internet services, and led companies that achieved the highest customer retention and satisfaction rates in their respective industries. On the financial front, CSP's team led the first-ever IPOs in the cellular mobile industry in the US and the cable television industry in the UK, and have collectively raised over $20 billion in venture and mezzanine capital, private equity, public equity, public and private debt, and strategic partnerships. CSP's team has also collectively led over $20 billion of M&A transactions of virtually every type, and has particular expertise in financial restructurings. CSP currently holds controlling investments in Southwest Wireless Group, a wireless broadband company operating in Arizona, and Bay Broadband, a wireless broadband company operating in Maryland. CSP's minority investments include Upoc Networks, a mobile data and messaging company headquartered in New York City, and mfoundry, a mobile application service provider headquartered in Sausalito, California. CSP's consulting clients have included NTL, Inc., the largest integrated cable television/telephone/broadband company in the UK, ATX Communications, a US CLEC, and a variety of other telecommunications companies and financial entities. CSP is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey. |
